DEFINING BEST FLEET VALUE

 

Each month Vincentric measures the cost to own and operate vehicles based upon typical use in a commercial fleet. To determine these overall lifecycle costs, fleet purchase incentives are incorporated into the calculation of the Vincentric Fleet Price for each vehicle, and costs for each vehicle are measured in the following 8 areas:

  • To determine the Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America™ awards, the eight costs for each of 2,000+ qualifying vehicles1 were measured in fifty states plus DC, with this data being used to create U.S. totals. The result was over 800,000 cost measurements.

 

  • These 800,000 calculations were then used to determine fleet lifecycle costs in 28 different ownership/mileage scenarios, resulting in approximately 22,400,000 fleet lifecycle cost calculations.

 

  • 24 months of ownership at 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, and 40,000 miles annually
  • 36 months of ownership at 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, and 40,000 miles annually
  • 48 months of ownership at 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, and 40,000 miles annually
  • 60 months of ownership at 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, and 40,000 miles annually

 

  • Vehicles that are relevant to the fleet industry were then assigned to the appropriate vehicle segments2. Vehicles in each segment were ranked low to high in terms of their total lifecycle costs for each of the 28 lifecycle scenarios.

 

  • If a vehicle had the lowest fleet lifecycle cost in any of the 28 lifecycle scenarios for its segment, it became a finalist. 

 

  • Of the finalists, the vehicle having the lowest fleet lifecycle costs in the most lifecycle scenarios was declared the winner. If two or more vehicles were best in the same number of lifecycle scenarios, the vehicle with the most second place rankings was determined the winner. If that process did not create a winner, the vehicle with the best ranking in the 36 month, 25,000 mile scenario was selected as the winner.

 


 

1To qualify, manufacturers needed to have an active fleet sales organization and meet specific sales thresholds in the commercial and governmental markets.
