FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Volkswagen Group Leads 2014 Vincentric Best Value in Canada Awards; Audi, Chevrolet, and Toyota Receive Top Brand Honors
BINGHAM FARMS, Michigan - September 9th, 2014 - The winners of the 3rd annual Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards were announced today, with Volkswagen Group taking home ten vehicle awards, the most of any manufacturer. Toyota earned the title of Best Value Passenger Vehicle Brand, while Audi took home the Best Value Luxury Brand award and Chevrolet showed its strength in the pickup market to claim Best Value Truck Brand in Canada.
Alternative fuel played a key role in the success of many of the award winning brands, with 16 awards earned by diesel and hybrid technology vehicles. Diesel-powered Audi vehicles won 3 awards and Volkswagen TDI models came away with four awards supporting the impressive performance by Volkswagen Group. Additionally, three diesel BMW vehicles earned awards, and Toyota demonstrated the strength of its hybrid options, winning three of the five hybrid-specific vehicle segments. The diversity of the General Motors Corporation line-up was evident with award winning vehicles in the passenger car, SUV and crossover, and pickup truck categories. Also performing well were Ford Motor Company, American Honda Motor Company, and Mazda Motor Corporation, with each manufacturer taking home three awards.
“Over the past three years we've observed an increased presence of alternative fuel vehicles in the Canadian retail market, and the 2014 Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards demonstrate how these alternative fuel vehicles can often offer buyers strong value," stated David Wurster, President of Vincentric. "The fact that so many automotive brands were honored with at least one vehicle award indicates that no matter the buying preferences of the Canadian consumer, the marketplace is rich with value-driven vehicle options," he added.
To determine the 2014 Vincentric Best Value in Canada awards, Vincentric analyzed over 1,800 vehicle configurations measuring cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces plus the Northwest Territories using a range of annual kilometer intervals and insurance profiles.
