Electric/Plug-in Hybrid Car

2012 Chevrolet Volt

If you’re looking to propel your vehicle by grabbing some juice from the power grid, check out the results of this segment which evaluates both fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. When we looked at the numbers, we found that the Chevrolet Volt won the Vincentric Best Value in America award for the second year in a row due to ownership costs that were 4% lower than expected. Competition from the Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid was strong, but not enough to unseat the champion.

Cost-of-Ownership Compared to Segment Averages

The Vincentric Best Value in America awards are based on the model level average of all trim levels within the model. Ownership costs for each trim level are measured at annual mileages of 10,000, 15,000, and 20,000.
