DEFINING BEST FLEET VALUE IN CANADA
|
Each month Vincentric measures the cost to own and operate over 1,800 vehicle configurations based upon typical use in a commercial fleet. To determine these overall lifecycle costs, fleet purchase incentives are incorporated into the calculation of the Vincentric Fleet Price for each vehicle, and costs for each vehicle are measured in the following 8 areas:
- To determine the Vincentric Best Fleet Value in Canada™ awards, these fleet costs for each of the 1,800+ vehicle configurations were measured in all ten provinces, with this data being used to create Canada totals. The result was over 144,000 cost measurements.
- These calculations were then used to determine fleet lifecycle costs in 24 different ownership/distance scenarios, resulting in approximately 3,456,000 fleet lifecycle cost calculations.
- 24 months of ownership at 15,000, 25,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, and 60,000 kilometers annually
- 36 months of ownership at 15,000, 25,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, and 60,000 kilometers annually
- 48 months of ownership at 15,000, 25,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, and 60,000 kilometers annually
- 60 months of ownership at 15,000, 25,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, and 60,000 kilometers annually
- Qualifying vehicles1 were then assigned to one of 41 different vehicle segments2. For each of the 41 segments, vehicles were ranked low to high in terms of their total lifecycle costs for each of the 24 lifecycle scenarios.
- If a vehicle had the lowest fleet lifecycle cost in any of the 24 lifecycle scenarios for its segment, it became a finalist. Of the finalists, the vehicle having the lowest fleet lifecycle costs in the most lifecycle scenarios was declared the winner. If two or more vehicles were best in the same number of lifecycle scenarios, the vehicle with the lowest total lifecycle costs adding the costs for the 24 scenarios was declared the winner.
1To qualify, manufacturers needed to have an active fleet program and meet specific thresholds for sales in the commercial and governmental markets.
