2014 BEST VALUE IN AMERICA PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Toyota, Audi, and Chevrolet Take Top 2014 Vincentric Best Value in America Awards

BINGHAM FARMS, Michigan – March 25, 2014 – The 10th annual Vincentric Best Value in America awards were announced earlier today, with Toyota, Audi, and Chevrolet earning awards for Best Value Passenger Car Brand, Best Value Luxury Brand, and Best Value Truck Brand respectively. Honda, Ford, and Lexus also did well with multiple award winning vehicles.

Toyota’s passenger car strength, along with four Lexus and Scion winners gave the manufacturer eleven awards, topping all others. A noteworthy Toyota winner was the Tacoma, which won a Vincentric Best Value in America award for the tenth year in a row. Audi’s luxury brand award was supported by two award-winning diesel powered TDI vehicles, while Honda showed the strength of its volume vehicles, with the Accord, Civic, CRV, and Odyssey all honored as being the best value in their class. General Motors, with five awards, and Ford with three awards also did well in the annual Vincentric analysis.

“The 2014 Vincentric Best Value in America awards demonstrate the increasing fragmentation of the US auto market,” commented David Wurster, President of Vincentric. “In our passenger car segments, there were 15 different brands out of the 22 award winning vehicles, with similar distribution in our SUV, Crossover, and Truck segments. We expect this to continue as additional manufacturers use cost-of-ownership as a strategic metric within their organizations to develop vehicles in all segments that best meet their customers' needs."

Vincentric measures cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in America winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all 50 states plus DC using a range of annual mileage intervals and insurance profiles.
